Fellows House is a new hotel that launched in Cambridge in 2021. The challenge was to stand out from city’s established destinations, and yet to feel immediately part of its university mindset.

This project began from the conception of the hotel and encompassed research, competitive analysis, naming, brand development and even interiors recommendations.

Taking inspirations from scientific drawings and quotes from illustrious Cambridge alumni, my team and I created a hotel with look and tone that fit right in with its impressive surroundings.

Creative Director/Brand Strategy

The process

The project began with commissioned research, providing the client with insight on consumer behaviour and competitors to underpin a strategic approach. Leveraging inspiration from motifs and academic influences throughout the city, we named the hotel ‘The Fellows House’ (celebrating the past, present and future fellows of the university) and crafted its bespoke logo. With the foundations in place, we rolled-out design and strategy; from naming and branding the two food & beverage outlets, to interiors, communications and an artwork advisory.

We took scientific drawings from multiple sources and had them recreated to control line width and consistency. Quotes from Cambridge alumni are used throughout the hotel and across the visual identity to add to the story.
